A runoff without answers

FACTBrazil’s electoral court confirmed on 5 October that Flávio Bolsonaro and Lula will advance to a runoff on 25 October. Bolsonaro received more than 55.8 million votes in the first round and Lula nearly 53.2 million; neither secured a majority.

A patient war

FACTOn 4 October, Yemen’s internationally recognized government announced the start of a major military operation to retake territory controlled by the Houthis. The declaration followed Houthi advances near Taiz and along the road linking the city to Aden; AP reported that the escalation had revived the civil war after a four-year ceasefire.
